I had someone retract a bid. There was more than 3 days left on the auction.
This is allowed, correct? I just want to make 100% sure :)

The ebay rules on bid retractions are pretty strict, I would venture to say 90% of bid retractions don't meet the criteria, but it would be near impossible to prove so ebay generally doesn't enforce the rules.

I never minded, because I figured it was better to have some one retract their bid, than win the auction and not pay

Okay here's another question :)

Say he emails me and asks to have his bid cancelled and I agree........ How do I go about doing this? Never had it happen before.

if you cancel his bid ... he will not have it on his record as a retraction. it looks like you did it, not him. and if he gets all sellers to do this, then he can retract his little heart out and none of the sellers would be any wiser.

It's fine, I'm not worried about it that much. He emailed me stating a good excuse and I'm considering cancelling his bid. I just want to know how to cancel it :)
I looked on Ebay and only found retracting bid info, but nothing on how the seller can Cancel a bid.

Why are you doing his work? Just tell him to retract his own bid.

You can do this? I mean there was a couple times messed up a bid or had remorse and thought it was pretty much set in stone for the buyer that once the bid is made that is it unless he/she gets out bid.

No, the buyer can retract his own bid.

Finally, I found it ;) HERE
Here's what it states on Ebay:

Can I retract or cancel my bid?

A bid may be retracted (cancelled) by the buyer in some cases if the retraction meets the requirements of our Bid Retraction policy.
Note: There is no equivalent for bid retraction in Buy It Now listings, or for listings where the bidding has ended. Once you've confirmed your purchase, you are obligated to pay the seller. There is also no equivalent for bid retraction for item listings using the Best Offer feature.

Whether you can retract your bid or not depends on the following factors:
Why you are retracting your bid;
When your bid was placed and when the listing ends.

You can retract a bid or a Best Offer for the following reasons:
You make a typographical error and enter the wrong bid amount. For instance, you bid $99.50 instead of $9.95. If this occurs, enter the correct bid amount immediately after you retract your bid. If you do not place another bid, the retraction will be in violation of eBay's policy and could result in your suspension. Please review the retraction guidelines if you need to retract your bid.
The description of an item you have bid on changed significantly after you placed your bid.
You cannot contact the seller. This means that you tried to call the seller, but his or her phone number doesn't work, or that you have tried emailing a message to the seller and it comes back undeliverable.

My guy bid 15550.00 when he meant $155.50. He ended up as the winning bidder.

lets say i bid on an item and get outbid on it.. I then go bid on another item.. A day later, the guy on the first item who outbid me, retracts his bid and now im the high bidder on both items. Am I responsible for paying for it? Since I got outbid on the first item, i found it cheaper on another auction and bought it there instead but now since the first item ended, I'm the high bidder and I've won 2 of the items I didn't need. I did not know the guy retracted his bid on the first item until the auction was won and I received an email from the seller, or I would have retracted my bid also.

Very good question!

That's a little more complicated from the sound of it. If it were me, I'd contact Ebay and see what they say.

In my opinion, you should'nt be obligated to buy the item and the next person in line who had the highest bid should be contacted by the seller explaining the situation and be offered the chance to buy the item.......
