eBay question about "untested" software auctions/merchandise

When auctions state that something is "untested" is this just a way to pawn off old crap you know is broken?

I am looking at a game which is around 10 years old and comes on six 3.5" disks. With the high failure rate they have, I'm somewhat apprehensive about buying it :( Buying one disk is chancy, but could six survive that long?

What do you guys think? Buy something "untested" ?

Its 6 disk, how much could it cost, take a chance on it and don't be upset if they dont' work. Email the guy and get him to test them if the price goes high

$20 when all is said and done.

Blah I could just bet on the CD-ROM auctions of it (but they tend to go for about double heh...chance you pay for I guess). Think I'll just sit this one out.

What do you mean "hold out this long?" If they were taken good care of, of course they'll work

Btw, threadjack, KarenMarie, you changed your avatar :)

I've never had a floppy disk last 10 years, untested always means broken but the seller is trying to extort you for more money. Don't even waste your time.

1. Win auction
2. Attempt to install from disks.
3. If unsuccessful, download game at an abandonware website. What game is it?

I decided I'll wait for a CD-ROM auction instead.

i wonder how much a sealed copy of that game is worth nowadays? i have one sitting in my closet along with a sealed sam and max. thats what happens when i buy games that i never play. come to think of it, half my games are probably unopened and collecting dust on my shelves. sigh.
