eBay question about the gallery promo

I have a couple of things to list on eBay and they have some special going on with the free gallery. Do I still have to host my own pics or is that included with this promotion? If I do have to host them can I use the fox32 site for eBay pic hosting? Who is the ATOT user that is the admin for the fox32 site? thanks

Gallery is always eBay hosted. I think it is best to pre-make them in 96x96 size with little compression so as to minimize mangleation by eBay's proprietary mangleation process. Did I mention they mangleate them? Also, they more recently reduced the default display size to 80x80 in List View (as opposed to Picture Gallery) to further mangalate even clear 96x96 images which managed to come through the mangleation process relatively unscathed. Alternatively, the reverse could be done: make them 80x80 so they are clear on the List View and more mangalated on the Picture Gallery.

Thanks, so should I make them 96x96 or 80x80? I am no photchop guru and usually resize in inches. You specified the dimensions in pixels? BTW I don't know what mangleate means.

If you don't want to bother then you can simply choose to use the main image or other and it will be automatically resized for the gallery. Browse around and see the general result though. So yes, to do it right resize to specificed pixels otherise it will be resized again by eBay anyway. As said, your choice for size depending upon which listing you want clearer -I would lean towards 96x96.

Consider that it is not necessarily best to use the same as the main image. Of course the idea of the gallery is to make the item instantly recognizable and/or stand-out. A resized main image will not necessarily be/do that. Mangleate is the verb to mangle in the world of Loony Tunes, or something 🙂
