Hello.

I just got a message from someone that bought something off of me from Ebay and said that part of the item doesn't work. He asked me if I could exchange just that one part and I don't know what to tell him.

I offered to replace the whole thing if he sent the whole thing back and covered shipping. Should I cover shipping? Should I do the return/exchange? Should I just direct him to the manufacturer?

This is the very first problem that I've had on Ebay and I'm not sure to handle it.

What I thought about doing is replacing the bad part with the bad part from his package and then returning the package that I still have with the bad part. Should I do this? I really wouldn't be out that much money, I'd just have to wait for the refund is all.

What should I offer if anything?

Any advice would be most appreciated!

I sell stuff on eBay and am really getting fed up with some of the people on there. I always bend over backwards to help people and resolve situations. About 2 months ago I sold a 256MB stick of Crucial Memory. In my auction I stated shipping was US only. Can you guess who won? Someone from Isreal. I agreed to ship it to him as long as he understood that USPS doesn't provide tracking or insurance for International shipments. He agreed. 2 months later I get a Fraud Complaint from eBay because the guy didn't get his RAM.

Why did the guy wait this long to contact me? I think he got the RAM and now just wants it for free.

Salv - it depends on the item and such. Do you have a link to your eBay url? I suppose if he contacted you asap after he got it that it might be in your best interest to help him but there's nothing that says you have to.
