Ebay problem

I bid and won this item 8 days ago:

iRiver iHP-120 20 GB MP3 Player, Excellent Condition!

The listing said it would include all accessories except the earphones (which I didn't care about). The box came and everything was completely ducky except that there was no external microphone included. The manual and reviews indicate that there was an external mic with miniplug, a mono mic. There's an internal mic, but the external one is a lapel-clip mic.

I sent the seller an email 3 days ago via the "Ask seller a question" link on the item page. She never sent me any emails, so I don't have her personal email address. I guess I can get that through eBay. Anyway, she hasn't answered my question pertaining to why the mic wasn't included, which asked her if she could send it to me. Do I have any leverage here, or do I have to look for a mic on my own?

That is not complete. There's also a headphone extension cable (about 4") that adapts miniplug headphones whose connector is too thick to fit in the smallish hole on the player. It also makes no mention of the external microphone. The manual indicates its inclusion. The manual also states that the included accessory list can be changed at any time. I have no proof that the external mic was included when the seller bought the item. If you read reviews of the player they talk about the external microphone. Also, the firmware has settings for it.

Ducky? You're a lifer and you never heard the word "ducky?" You're a babe in the woods. OK, substitute "fine" for "ducky."

I don't know where that came from but I suspect it was Amazon.com, because it says there:

Amazon.com page for iHP-120

mmm. What kind of mic do I need? What I've found is an extensive thread at misticriver.com:

H Series Live Recording Guide v1.0

It suggests some microphones, starting with budget ones (what I'm thinking of now), but I wasn't able to find those Googling:

"I highly recommend as a budget option the Skytronic 173.623 lapel mic, also sold under other names such as the YOGA EM-8 from Maplins." Couldn't find those for sale Googling.

Is the mic included in the picture? If it is, which I don't see, then you have leverage, but if not...

Well, I sent her a couple of messages after I won the item. They were both through ebay's own message sending apparatus and I got answers within ebay, not by email. I've gotten no reply either place. I don't know if she has an email contact registered with ebay. I did a contact request within eBay this morning and got a reply which included my own contact info (including my email address and phone number) and hers. Hers included a phone number but no email address. I very much doubt that she sent me an email that was trapped by either my own computer based spam filtering program or the one employed by my ISP.

It was hard to tell in her picture what was there. I doubt the mic was in her photo. I figured that either she doesn't have it or if she does, she didn't know when she took that photo. IOW, it could be in a drawer and she didn't know what it was. It's not a giant thing. I guess if she doesn't have it or continues to ignore me I'll just chalk it up to experience and keep my eyes open for another mic from somewhere.

If it is not listed in her auction description and it is not in the photo, you should not have expected to get it.

It is fine that you email her and ask if she has it, but I would say that you would have to go by her auction description.

The CA one I've never used, but can't be that bad as most of their products are pretty decent. The Radioshack one they've been selling for years, and I've used a bit in different setups, it was always really good and I've never heard of anyone complaining about it.

Thank you very much for this information!!
