eBay Problem... Shipped a package / buyer hasn't gotten it yet.

Winner of my auction still hasn't recieved the package. It's been two weeks and he thinks its been lost and wants a refund. He said he was going to file a complaint to eBay/PayPal...

I shipped the package through USPS with delivery confirmation. I check the tracking and it still saids its enroute.

Is there anything I can do?

It should be out of my hands since I did my part and insurance was not purchased.

depends on what your contract said. if all you had to do was get it to the post office (which i believe is default under every state's law) then it's his problem.

USPS lost the package, not you. If he didn't opt for insurance then it's his fault and not yours.

This is typical E-bay procedure. Paypal however is going to ask for proof of shipment however if he does complain to them, you have to show them that the package is en route via the tracking number. You'll win the case and dispute closed.

exactly. Since you got the DC # thats waht paypal will ask for if they dispute and once you show it you win. Their fault if they didn't ask for insurance.

In my auctions I always offer insurance as an option. I offer it at the same price as the post office. I state that the item will be packaged securely, but I'm not responsible for lost or damaged items if they don't accept the insurance option.

Thankfully, nothing has ever been lost or damaged... because no one ever accepts the option for insurance.

delivery confirmation is worthless
if the item is of any value , you should have used something with real tracking

so just give the refund and then if the item turns up, figure out what to do

why isn't it the sellers responsibility to get the package to the buyer?
IMHO the seller should refund the buyer, and deal with the post office himself. It is not the buyers fault the package didn't get to him.

It's not the seller's fault the package didn't get there, either.

because the default rule is that sellers are only responsible for getting the package to the shipper. as long as both parties are aware of that, then there isn't any problem.

It's the carriers problem...not yours. If you have all your docs ready, you'll do fine. But it is great there is _i-s-u-r-a-n-c-e_

Filing a lost package claim is a PITA. I was gonna have to do it with a package a while back, but it just took a really long time to arive.

Thats true. I dont sell anything without insurance unless its under $25. And I used to sell $700 items on a regular basis. There is no "choice" involved. Its insured or nothing.
