I recently won an auction on eBay for a new water pump for my washing machine. So I signed up for a paypal account to send payment to the guy. I clicked on his "paypal" link on the auction page and then submitted the payment to him. Here's a link to the auction. His user ID is qfjewelry and the email account I sent it to on Paypal was jon@quickfixjewelry.com.

Well he writes me back and tells me I sent it to the wrong email or account or something.
Here's his email:
Hi,
This is Jon The seller of the pump, you have send the money to an closed
paypal accunt bymistack , please send the money to this email account ,
jon9989@verizon.com. Any questions email me.
Sincerely,
Jon andoyan

And this email was sent from jon.aa@verizon.net. His eBay sellers email is listed as auctionlistings@quickfixjewelry.com. So thats 4 different emails this guy has for dealing with this one eBay auction.

So what should I do now? This seems a little fishy to me. It wasn't my mistake since he had that email address linked in the auction. The money transfer is listed as "uncleared" in my Paypal account. This is my first dealing with Paypal...is there a way to cancel this transaction? Then I could resend it to the new email address. I really don't want a negative feedback since I am new to eBay. Should I trust him and submit the payment again and hope that paypal is smart enough to cancel the first one since its not a valid account?

Any advice is welcome!!!

Thanks,

Mcurphy

*sigh* Another ebay question. Do NOT send it again. NOT NOT NOT. Do NOT. Under NO circumstance do you send him another payment w/o confirmation that the first payment was cancelled. If he refuses to send the pump, then take it up with ebay or your local wanker.

Don't send another payment till the first has been cancelled. Since it is uncleared, you may still be able to cancel it. If not, either you and/or the seller will need to email paypal to get this cleared up.

I was reading up on the Paypal help section and they say I can cancel an order that is "unclaimed". But mine is still listed as "uncleared" and doesn't provide me with the cancel option. So I will contact the seller and let him know that I need to be sure the first payment isn't claimed before I can send another.

It really pisses me off that he tells me it was my mistake when he doesn't have the correct info in the auction in the first place. Now I have to go through a run-around to get him the payment.

Thanks for the replies

I would only send money to the account listed on the auction - even if you cancel the first payment. Sounds fishy to me.
