eBay/Paypal coupons transerfable?

My son rec'd a coupon code from eBay/Paypal good for 10% off, max of $100. He is not going to use it and sent it to me. Not sure that I can use it with my eBay ID/paypal account. Does anyone know if eBay/Paypal actually check the promo code against a list?

Its linked to your email, so no if you didnt get it emailed to you, it aint gonna work. It has to match the ebay email account. The code itself is the same for everyone though.

Well, I didn't receive one so the the big question is, will it work for me? More importantly, will it work in tandem with the Live Cashback?
