eBay noob question

I placed a bid on something with shipping, say $20 and shipping insurance, say $10. However, there's a Reserve and it's not met. The title has a $1 initial offer which makes no sense to me if there's a reserve.
When there's both shipping and a reserve, is the shipping usually calculated into the reserve?
I'm just wondering if I'm supposed to include shipping and insurance in my bid or is that in addition to my bid?

In my experience, shipping is always separate. Other than that, I can be of no help as I can't understand what you wrote.

Reserve and opening bid are not related, except the reserve will be greater than or equal to the opening bid.

If/when you win the auction and if the reserve is met, you will pay auction ending price + shipping + insurance (if seller has required insurance and made it a seperate amount).

I usually don't buy from someone who is making the majority of their money via their shipping and insurance.

That's right. Except I understand when seller charges high shipping fees, it's the only way to make money on eBay.

Well, it is a computer monitor, albeit a small light one.

$20 shipping is probably in the reasonable zone, but $10 insurance? I guess if it's going to sell for several hundred dollars that would be appropriate. You just want to watch out for someone selling junk & offering your money back less shipping/handling. If the seller has good feedback that would be good sign.

Actually, the shipping is $16 for USPS Parcel Post and the insurance is $7.50.

Is there any way to expedite this process? There's almost 2 days left and I'd like to ship by tomorrow.

LOL are you serious?

You haven't won the auction yet. There's always a chance you will be out bid.
