Ebay issue - or not? How long to wait on shipping?

So I bought a lens on ebay last Monday (20th). It was a bit late in the evening, so starting from the 21st, it's been a full week and the item has yet to be shipped.

The person/company is a powerseller with ridiculously good feedback, I wasn't too worried initially. Then I get an email that says it'll ship sometime this week? WTF? Just over 1k for an item, all my ebay/paypal crap is verified/confirmed and all that .... and I have to wait over a week + transit time?

So basically what can I do, I can't see any way to cancel the order? I see nothing in ebay's policies regarding how long they have to ship the item out, just general shipping stuff (entirely possible that I overlooked it, if so, pls point it out for me).

You need to contact him. It very might well be that he sent it already and did not send you an email on it. I've had that happen to me many times.

was there anything in the auction that mentioned when the lens would be shipped? some wait 3-4 days for paypal to clear before shipping.

Nothing of the sort.

In fact I actually emailed him/her/them on the 25th asking when it was going to ship, I didn't get the above mentioned reply until today...

Isn't the ebay feedback policy now that sellers cant leave negative feedback?

I'd certainly wait for the lens to show up if you plan on leaving bad feedback for the guy, but I believe you no longer need to worry about retaliation feedback from the seller.

Ebay is not Wal*Mart son. If you could have found it cheaper jump on it.

MANY ebay powersellers ship once per week. MOST will wait for the actual paypal to hit their bank accounts. MOST are not doing 'accounting' daily.

You may wait a bit, but you get a better price.

A lot of online vendors are lucky to get items out within 3 days.

PRIOR to bidding one should always ask when the item will ship if they need it right away.

This was a buyer fault, not a seller's.

Selling shipping times are in ebay's TOS...they get up to 30 days.

30 days by the by-laws on ebay
7 days from recieving payment for the by-laws on paypal (unless stated LONGER in the auction).

10 days before ebay will accept a complaint.

If you don't like the rules....don't use the service.

FYI -
Wal*Mart doesn't typically sell camera lenses - who said anything about it being cheap? Perhaps it's a harder to find out of production lens?

Who said I needed it right away?

I can't remember the last time I ordered something from an online vendor that didn't get shipped in less than 2 business days. Besides, this has been a full week, so how's that even relevant? It's not!

Thanks for the advice tho, next time I order something online, be it ebay or a major online retailer - I'll make double sure to email them and ask them if it's going to take them more than a week to ship out an item, how silly of me.
