here's the deal:

-I listed my 81 diesel Jetta w/ a "buy-it-now" of $800
-some one regestered and "bought-it-now"
-they sent me an email asking me to take a check, and forward $3470 to a shipping company on the day I get the check.

here is a copy of the email he/they sent me:

Dear vwhed,

can i know the condition of this item this item is needed very urgent and we are very serious in buying this item if you are serious in selling forward me your contact address so that payment can be made in the tune of amount you are asking for it $800.00 as for the shipping we have make enquires with shipping company that would handel the shipping as soon as possible but i would like you to answer some of my questions 1)can i bid on the buy it now? 2)would you be available when the shipping company comes for the pick up? 3)can we trust you? 4)will you be able to send a money to the shipping company? because my client would be adding some extra amount on the check which is meant for shipping and insurance the money would be $800.00 + $3,470 you would help me send this shipping fee to the shipping company acvcountant the first day you recieve the check so that all necessary arrangement can be done for the shipping arrangement but i would like you to make all the arrangement for t

I guess it is a scam, but now I have to fight ebay for the fees and explain to the 25 people I had "watching" it why it is now re-listed w/ no "buy it now" feature.

I figured that it was phishy, but is there any way I can protect myself with a buy it now item? I went away for about an hour and came back and it was sold. I was like "sweet", then reality started to sink in. It just p155es me off because the fees are like $100 to Ebay - hopefully they don't give me too much grief.

does ebay have a 1-800 number?

say you will only accept a certain type of payment (whichever one you feel will protect you the best as a seller). Unless you are shipping the car, then do not accpet anything over what they won the acution for, plus any misc fees.
