eBay is dangerous!

This thread post linked to a bizarre eBay auction. I was curious what other auctions would be under this category, so I ended up here. As one can see, there is a thumbnail of a nude woman. Careful clicking on that link.

It took me to a page asking me to log in. I figured since it was adult content, that was par for the course. So I typed in my credentials, which oddly enough were rejected. Then I looked at the address bar:

http://dfghdhfgdfgdfghdfghjdgfdhsfghfg.50megs.com/

I'd been had. But I logged into the real ebay.com and immediately changed my password, so all is good.

After visiting the site 4 or 5 times, Firefox warned me about it.

How does stuff like this even happen? How can a legit eBay link be redirected to a scam site? Craziness...

---------------

Edit:

Five minutes later, eBay has removed the offending auction.

Oh.. this explains it.

Recently I noticed so many people with hacked accounts. Damn, those scammers are getting smarter by minutes.

Firefox caught it for me after the 4th or 5th visit. Would have liked it to be the 1st. Wonder what gives...

Welcome to the internet.

Really? So you've seen this before when an auction link listed on eBay redirects away from eBay? First time I've seen it.

I've never seen it link directly from eBay, that's interesting for sure. Wonder how they did that.

well they allow HTML so they may have just used forwarding or some such to that 50megs site.
