ebay help: someone wants me to charge their credit card without using paypal...

I'm trying to sell a 5.0 MP Sony F717 used camera with a bunch of extras for about $500 on ebay and this guy emailed me and said that his country is not listed on paypal and he really wants my camera... he said he would pay for FedEx International shipping and give me 9% more than the asking price if he can somehow put it on his credit card.

I wouldn't do it if I were you. Stick to the terms of your auction. More than likely, there will be a buyer that can abide by your terms and not try to cajole you into making their own terms.

Let me guess... he's from somewhere in what was the former Soviet Union?

no, but he does have a brother who is a Prince in Nigeria....

Tell him "Sorry about your luck. But for my own protection I am not offerring to sell to anyone outside of the United States."

I said in a post a couple weeks ago, one of the best ways to protect yourself against scams is to only allow buyers from the US... and Canada if you want to deal with that. You might piss off a few people, miss out on a little bit of money, but you are much less likely to get caught up in a scam.

ca ca ca scam

Tell him to send you a cashiers check for $10,000.00 and you will refund the difference minus a 30% fee.

Well, If you can't get funds right off him, just don't ship it.
you can compromise a little if he wants to go Money Order or Western Union .. etc..

But you know you're not a company, charging directly from his credit card? Man, not a good idea at all.
Call him to send something solid to you,
then you know he means business.

Why not offer to sell it to him and he can pay you via Western Union or something?

But, 99.9% chance it's just a scam.

Repeat affter me: "No international sales"

yes, it is nothing but HASSLE!
you have a large customer pool in US. no need to deal with international. even if they are honest, they will come back and bitch about it for the custom taxes, etc.
