Hi,

What is the deal with the Nigerian scams? Are they after just a Full name and address?
I'm not shipping there, just curious.

Also, how safe is international shipping anywhere else if someone pays with a money order and I ship the items after the funds have cleared?

Who cares. If you tell them how you're going to ship, then collect the funds (they clear), and you ship the way you said...it's beyond you at that point.
 
They send you extravagant amount of money on a cashier's check. Check clears with your bank. You ship item. 8 weeks later bank realizes that check is fake. They take back money. You're out shipping and the item you sold.

Sell it to someone you know for $20 cheaper because you "don't feel like having to go to the bank" and let them cash it. 🙂

So what is the safest way to go about getting paid on ebay other than through Paypal?

Western Union Money order?
Bidpay Money order?

No matter what paper instrument is used; ensure that it is valid/clears before releasing the goods.
If using a CC; verify that the card is valid.

 
USPS money order is as good as cash, just cash it at a post office and verify all the security features on it before cashing. Just never ship to Eastern Europe, Africa, most of the Far East (excluding Japan) and South America and you should be good.
