Ebay help needed

Had a i7 920 cpu up on ebay. $185 buy it now and I got 2 offers right off the bat and one guy bought it. It is some Chinese name on the account I was paid from but the ebay acct has like 4660 positive feedbacks. It's also a shipping address that is not confirmed. Sounds fishy to me. Anyone have any idea what the deal is?

Told ya it would sell ;)
It sold right away because the deal was really good (ie you went lower than others) or some guy needed it pretty bad.

Wouldn't worry about the buyer. I have been on ebay since 1998, worldwide customers with high feedback are your least concern. It's hard to confirm international addresses, I think it's only limited to US / Canada and UK as far as I know.

Get delivery confirmation, it's free with the USPS paypal label if you ship by priority. If he seems really fishy then ask him about it and talk him into buying insurance so you have legal proof you sent the item. Costs no more than a few bucks more.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up getting delivery conf and signature required on it. It said it was a confirmed addy in ebay but not in paypal. Either way it confuses me but the guys got 4000+ feedback so Im pretty sure its okay. Its gotten slooowww on FS/FT btw. Couldn't get a sniff at $165 shipped on FS/FT but put it at $185 and $5 shipping on ebay and sold 3 mins of posting sale.

np, good thing it got sold.
Gonna hijack your thread, something's wrong with FS/FT man. Don't know what's up with it but its like super slow these days, its hard to move volume fast. Not sure if its something related to the economy or anandtech or the forum shift. It's a lot different these days.

really? I've bought more off there this past year than every before. I do notice that people are A LOT less willing to negotiate though.

funny how that is happening, I'm selling 95% of my stuff on [H] at this point, but if I want it to move NOW, chalk it up a bit and let bing cashback kick in on ebay. Just make sure to cover yourself on fees. ouch.

Yeah I have been eyeing and selling things the past 2-3 weeks or so. I don't even get a bite on 775 stuff, motherboards and cpu and the likes, I had to pretty much solicit people from searching their threads.

Also watched other sellers, some things just weren't moving. Take Dirty Ape's cpu for example.

Couldn't get a nibble on a Q6600 around here but at [H], the moment i put it up it got sold like 4 hours later.

Put up an abit ip35-e for $45 shipped here, doesn't bite for weeks. Put it up on ebay for $70 shipped, sold less than a hour later.

I don't think I've ever even been to H. I put some RAM up for sale last week and it sold within a couple hours. But then again, when I price something, I price it to sell quick.

I won't do ebay unless its my last option.

I don't think I could of priced a i7 920 any better without giving it away. $165 shipped priority mail. Something is definitely amiss.
when I had it up on ebay I posted the listing then within 30 seconds I heard my phone make the sound like when I get a email. I figured it was ebay saying your listing is posted. Checked the email and had two offers. Then a couple mins later I had a email saying I have to ship my item it has been sold. Worked for me.

Sorry man...wasn't trying to imply that your price wasn't good. That's what....$80 off retail?

I can't speak for others on the forum but I am being very careful with my cash right now. I still love a good deal but I think a lot more before I pull the trigger on anything.

Yeah this economic near collapse f@cked me up. It use to be when I wanted something I just weighed the options and pulled the trigger. Now its like deciding if your gonna pull the cord on your loved one at the ER.

You're not kidding. Hopefully all these stock market talking heads are right and things do keep getting better. I won't turn this into a P&N thread, but I'm scared shitless about what could happen to the economy because of whats going on in Washington.

Look at Damn dirty ape's CPU man, it's just basically new opened box.. he's selling it for -$360 bucks off new retailer price like newegg, and like 100-150 less than ebay. Tell me something ain't wrong with that picture. I'd usually hawk on deals like this just to resale, but I don't do stuff like that to people on anandtech!

Yes but Micro Center has been selling these for 199.00 for at least 6 months.

On a tech forum such as this many know where the bargains are.

Can't say the same for Ebay.

buy some glasses old hippie - that's a 975 extreme edition. LOL

I must be missing something.

I thought you sold an i7 920 and that's what MC is selling for 199.00.

Where does the 975 come into play?

a confirmed address is no longer a requirement for seller protection
