Ebay/Half Advice Needed

Here's the deal. Someone ordered a Chem book I had for sale on Half.com on 8/23. This was during the whole SoBig crap that filled my email inbox every hour. For whatever reason, I never got the half.com confirmation email so I didnt know I had to ship the book until I got an email from the girl on the 9th of Sept.. I email back basically explaining the situation and telling her I would mail the book out the next day and include $5 as compensation for her trouble (seems fair to me). So I ship the book out Priority and it gets delivered on the 12th of Sept. (tracking number 0302 0980 0001 0897 7800 if you care). I continue to get emails from the girl asking where the book is and why I never responded to her eariler emails (wtf? she must not check her bulk mail folder or something and that is where my emails are going). Today I get this one:

"It has been almost a month since I made the payment for the Chemistry
book from you and the payment has long since been deducted from my
account. However, I still have not recieved my book. You have not returned
my e-mails and you have been a dishonest seller. I am very dissapointed
that someone would just take another perons money and not sned the
product. I am just letting you know that you have until tomorrow to respond
to me otherwise I will go ahead and rate you and also report you to
half.com and ebay. I hope in the future you will be more honest to those
whom you sell. "

So now my perfect record is going to be tarnished because this dumb something or rather cant check all her emails? I figure her college lost the book somewhere in their mail system.

Now then, my question is that if she reports me to Half will I get a chance to prove that I shipped the book a while ago and it shows delivered? I wont still be responsible for the book, will I? Would Half just take the money right out of my bank account?

If you need any more info, plz ask! And...
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOU HELP!!!!

CLIFFS NOTES:
1. Sold a book on half, shipped it late (oops)
2. Girl says never delivered, never got any of my emails
3. I have delivery confirmation
4. Am I still responsible?

Tough sh*t man. I was in the same type of situation as a buyer a few months ago.

As a buyer, I paid for the book. It never came. The lady said she shipped it out twice to me. I am not saying you are lying but the fact is in my case I never got the book and I did pay for it. I had ordered 4 other books at the same time for other sellers and they all arrived fine.

It is the seller's responsibility to get the product to the buyer. It isn't Half.com fault that it didn't get there. It isn't the girl's fault it didn't get there. You are the one with the proof that you shipped it. Deal with the post office. The girl deserves a full refund.

I am currently in a similar situation. I have the post office tracking that shows a package was delivered rush delivery (free to the buyer, I just wanted to get rid of the item) to the person's address and signed for. The person is still denying ever receiving it.

Delivery Confimation doesn't mean they get a signature. All it means is that the package made it to the post office that delivers mail to that address. It doesn't even mean it made it to the person's house.

If she leaves a negative you can respond to it. Post the tracking info in the feedback and say you tried to contact her.

I would also email ebay about the deal and include a copy of your email (if you have a sent items folder) and the tracking number.

Send her email from two different addresses and see if you can find a phone number (call the campus registrar or check their website if she's a college student). Tell her to check her email filter settings b/c you've sent her emails before. Send her to the USPS delivery confirmation page for her book and say someone must have stolen it from your mailbox b/c the post office is saying they delivered it.

Half.com buyers pay for media mail or priority mail. They can't expect signature confirmation or insurance w/o paying for it. Let her know that you are not liable for what other people steal out of her mailbox and she should contact the police and/or post office.

via mailing address.

If its the college you can call up their operator and ask for the number for so and so.

I'd just forget about it. I have sold 4 items on amazon. The last item the buyer was the first one to bother leaving a rating. I have a 1/5 now. I sold it on the 8th and shipped on the 10th. He emailed on the 12th asking why it hadn't shipped (he was looking on amazon or something even though _I_ had shipped it). He immediately left me a 1/5. Oh, and I emailed him on the 9th but the email adress he used didn't work, so he never got it.

She doesnt get any of my emails, and I have no other way of contacting her. Quite the conundrum. I feel bad that she hasnt gotten the book, but at the same time I am not going to eat $70+ on this, especially when the book shows delivered.

Educational. Flagstaff has 12 public elementary schools, two middle schools, three high schools and many private and charter schools. The city is home to Northern Arizona University with a graduate college and 11 undergraduate colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Communications, Ecosystem Science and Management, Engineering and Technology, Education, Health Professions, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Museum Facility of Fine Arts, Performing Arts, and Social and Behavorial Sciences.

She probably goes to NAU
You can see if her number is listed on their online directory: http://ldap1.ucc.nau.edu/mdprod-cgi-bin/search.pl

I say eat it. Nothing you can do. You occasionally hit trolls in those places that try and get free stuff from you. There have been threads dealing with it in the past. Just take the single negative (I assume you have enough sales so it won't show substantially against you) and leave a response in the feedback explaining that as far as you know it went through. *Shurg* Sh!t happens, and you did more than your fair share to resolve it.

I only have a first name for her. For whatever reason she bought the book using her boyfriends account so the ship to name was his.

**On looking up his name, the ship to address is his address. I have sent him a copy of the email I sent her. Hopefully he gets it.**

Why do you say this?

So I should just ignore their threats and deal with Half.com directly?

I would wait and see if/how he responds. I have combined orders with my GF before to save on shipping and stuff. Give them at least 24 hours to respond before contacting half.

if you shipped it to his address, of course she can legally claim she didnt get it :) he did..

but thats pretty darn weird if you cant get an email through to her. Post her email address and we will all send her a copy of the email you want her to get. She should get it from one of us.
