So before I was complaining about how it was 1 day since he did not respond to my messages
Well now its around the 5th-6th day and he still hasnt. He's a powerseller and he has a 99.99% positive rating. I'm considering giving him a negative on Monday if the package doesn't arrive.

Does anyone know if 5-6 days is a bit long for a powerseller to respond to your messages asking about when it will be shipped, via what, and the tracking no.?

Often enough they never respond.

Because of a seller's lack of communication, I ended up with two shiny new Seagate 160gb hard drives for $40. :D

This would not be acceptable from a store, so why is it ok on ebay? One reason why I stay away, too many wannabe business owners trying to make a quick buck.

My policy is that I give them 7 days total to respond to a query. On the 8th day, if no response, I'll issue immediate negative feedback and paypal chargeback whether or not he responds 1 second after I submit my complaints to ebay/paypal. If there is a response anywhere within the 7 days, I give them x+2 business days ( x = max shipping days that they claim that it was shipped using ) for the product to reach my door. By the 3rd day, if I haven't received said product, I'll issue immediate negative feedback and a chargeback to paypal regardless if it comes that day or not.

I play no games.

More often than not the powersellers are the worst to respond. They do so much business that they either don't have time to respond or don't care to since the feedback means so little to them. Maybe it's both.

Well, give him a negative for being late & unresponsive, and you're probably getting a retalitory negative in return. Just because he's a powerseller doesn't make him a good seller. If at all possible, I avoid powersellers every time.

I bet money that as soon as you give him a negative he will email you back, as soon as you feedback him get your money back

And then complain to ebay that retalitory negative violates their TOS and have it removed.

Not at all, retaliatory feedbacks do NOT get removed unless you pay extortion fee of $30 to SquareTrade.
