My friend sent 1200$ USD to a guy in the UK who claims he had an alienware laptop for 1200$ USD

He sent it via Western Union and as soon as my friend showed interest in the laptop, the item on ebay was immediately gone. The guy sent him an email from support@ebay-securetrade.com confirming the transaction. Which didn't even go through ebay..

My friend simply emailed the guy showing interest in the laptop, and the guy dropped the item on ebay as soon as he showed interest, he didn't click buy it now or anything.

And the guy sent him a transaction 'email' and he didn't even go through ebay.

This listing that I posted is something close to what the listing my friend went to.

All of this was redflags to me, I immediately knew it was a bad idea.

My friend didn't though, he thought it was a sweet deal.

cliffs :

1. check out the link, if you think it's a scam or not ...vote.

2. friend got scammed and just wrote a small paragraph on it.

EDIT: yeah, after they get an interested buyer, they cancel the listing so they don't have to pay ebay any fees.

Link no worky... eBay must've canceled the auction.

But, yeah, anything that seems really cheap from overseas is a pure 100%, no filler added scam.

I'm going to guess that the eBay seller had quite a few other high ticket items they were selling, yet their feedback showed that up until this point in time they were selling baby clothes and women's shoes.

And I further will wager the auction exhorted the buyer to e-mail the seller directly (purportedly to verify the item was still for sale) instead of actually bidding on the item within eBay...
