eBay - Do you consider shipping within 2-3 weeks to be "prompt"?

Bought a cd from seller on ebay on the 3rd. I've purchased a few cd's in the past and even with mediamail, i usually have them in 6-7 days, so i started looking.

He had good feedback, almost 3000 with over 99% (unfortunately to my own fault, i didn't read much in depth before buying). Well i go through his feedback and notice many complaints about slow shipping (he even admits he ships within ebay "policy" of two weeks).

Now, that may well be the eBay policy, but having sold many items on ebay myself, as a personal policy, I always ship within 1-2 business days. Now i know thats not feesable for all, so i think even 3-5 days is reasonable.

But what do you all think about 2+ weeks as this seller seems to think is alright?

I sent him an email and he replied that he would ship the cd later 'this week'.

IN ADDITION:
His e-mail address happened to be his name, so i googled it and sure enough this link comes up - LINK

Apparently he had 50,000 bootleg cd's confiscated from him back in 1996.

thing is, I don't see what policy written anywhere on eBay's site, it just says "prompt shipping after payment"

Also, now i kinda have reason to think it might be a bootleg...

I swear i seen it as being 30 days to get the item. 2 weeks? slow and annoying. Yes i would get pissed off. but long as i got the item in the shape they cliam.

as for the bootleg yeah that would tick meoff. if i want a bootleg version i can find it on a torrent.

I didn't know eBay policy is two weeks?! How can anyone take that long to ship an item? Maybe i'm a little paranoid but if I don't receive an item paid for within a week I start to worry.

The RIAA thing was more than 10 years ago..I wouldn't take it into much consideration

Check it over well when you get it. Might have to contact the RIAA again if he's up to his old ways...

eh? Caught with 50,000 bootleg cd's back in 96.... Now selling tons of "sealed" cd's on eBay and takes two weeks before he ships em out? I don't see how you couldn't take it into consideration.

All I see in that RIAA story you linked is how much of a douchebag that entire association can be... can you imagine the gall on that guy, making out of print LPs available on CD? Why, he should be flogged and torn by horses in a public square!

It will be interesting to see if eBay enforces the changes announced in a message I received from them today:

Dear ,

We're writing to tell you about an important announcement we've made concerning eBay policies and standards for seller performance. eBay is taking steps to protect the interests of good sellers like you and the consumer's overall experience on eBay.

First of all, we assure you that your current level of performance exceeds the standards. Congratulations and thank you.

Sellers are expected to perform in a manner resulting in a consistently high level of buyer satisfaction. If, over a 90-day period, a seller's interactions with buyers result in greater than a 5% level of buyer dissatisfaction as evidenced by negative/neutral feedback and/or Item Not Received complaints, that seller will be considered in violation of eBay's Seller Non-Performance policy. Note we're currently not including Detailed Seller Ratings in the enforcement of this policy since they're so new to the marketplace.

As a seller in good standing, you're well aware that buyer satisfaction is vital to your continued success -- and the continued success of eBay. Thank you for your solid track record and continued commitment to good customer service. We're confident that enforcing this policy will go a long way to keeping eBay a great place to buy and sell for you and for all our users.

Sincerely,

eBay Trust & Safety
