well i wouldnt call it screwed.... he will get his video card back.

That is if the buyer ships back the same video card, and not a different non-working one of the same model. OP, did you record the S/N or leave a seller's mark? Or my favorite was the time someone just shipped me back an envelope of paperclips in a box that weighed the same as the item.

Welcome to eBay, enjoy the ride.

Again, it sounds like this isn't the world's largest dollar transaction.

Why would someone bother to mail back paperclips? I mean if you're gonna blatantly screw someone, why even go to the trouble of mailing anything at all?

Some people never cease to amaze me.

Because eBay will see the tracking number and shipping information for a package of comparable weight to what was supposed to be returned, then side with the buyer in the dispute.

But otherwise, the buyer also wants me to pay return shipping, which I think is totally bogus.

That is bogus. If I were you I would offer buyer a full refund, once the card gets back in my hands. I would not reimburse for return shipping.

So I've been messaging back and forth with the buyer about various debug steps.

It turns out that his system was only crashing in Starcraft II, and FF XIV, and he said the error message was something like "video device malfunctioned and has recovered, please make sure your drivers are up to date"

He said he is playing other games fine, and ended his last message with "thanks for all your help".

I hope that means he isn't pursuing a refund and won't leave me negative feedback.
