The day I get owned on ebay will the be the day I break my computer. I have had 3 big sales. 1) laptop for $900+, Radeon 9800 for 300+ and a Verizon Blackberry for $300.

You're NEVER going to get your Paypal acct unfrozen. It takes like 2 years to get that settled.

So basically, what have i lost? Nothing actually, since the money is in my pocket. Maybe a little hassle cancelling cards and such, but now that I look at it, its not that bad, i must have panicked over getting charged back.

I have however gained an important lesson in online trading

Doesn't selling the accounts violate the user agreement, terms of service, or bill of rights or something?

Actually, DC doesn't matter. Even Signature Confirmation means jack sh1t if the buyer does a chargeback (not a SPP claim, but a CC chargeback).

When will you people learn?

it does for the fact you are covered by the paypal seller protection policy. with a chargeback Paypal actually will try and fight it, because if they lose they get stuck with a fee from VISA/MC.

Nope, they tack on the chargeback fee onto your account. And the SPP is a joke; you are not covered from a CC chargeback 100% of the time, and PayPal will try to use loopholes to avoid paying you.

You do not have to cancel the bank/debit account. PayPal can no longer touch those accounts without your consent.

You cannot close your paypal account until you settle the dispute.

I am finishing settling the dispute and it is almost a month later and my account should be unfrozen any day now. Once that happens, I am clearing out my account and closing it, shortly thereafter closing the checking account I set up specifically for it.

PayPal is the devil.

Next time you sell something that doesn't actually exist, like a RPG account, MAIL the login/password with delivery confirmation. Then you can't get screwed like this.

PayPal can't debit your checking account without your authorization.

It will just send your PayPal balance into the negatives.

The hell they cant

I've had this chat with 3 different banks. If you give paypal your bank info to deposit money, they can, without consent each time, debit your account. I've even gone so far as to ask the banks if they can allow deposits but not allow withdrawls without my written consent and they said no. If paypal has deposit access to your account (and they do when you sign up), then they can suck money out also.

It happens all the time.

EDIT.. this is as of about a year ago. They might have changed their policies.

Yeah and they had a class action lawsuit brought against them for this. Paypal is just like a bank only they aren't federally regulated so they can do whatever the hell they want and make the rules up as they go along.

Just tell your bank what's going on and that you have the proof and that you have not authorized them to take the money back out of your account. They should be able to prevent it. Can always let the bank know that if they don't stick up for their customers, you'll have to find a bank that will...

But you should be able to get away without having to worry about it. Just make a new paypal account, unlink everything with the old one, and move on.

Then be sure to see if you can adjust your feedback from him and make it negative.

You just got screwed by paypal's buyer protection policy. You aren't the first and certainly wont be the last

It sucks but this is why I don't sell characters by themselves. I sell the whole game that way I have something that I can say I physically sold with a UPS/FedEx (DC is worth jack crap IMO) tracking number. One thing that may possibly affect you is they might do something with your eBay account since eBay bought PayPal they may just turn around and suspend your eBay account as well.

Now my question is, would it be safe to add money into that debit card account linked to PP? I only have 1 card. Currently the account has no money in it because of this incident.

But I plan to go overseas and might need to use the card, would it be safe to add money into the account without PP deducting it?

I dont want to be screwed suddenly when paypal decides to cut $500 off my account and leave me stranded overseas

As far as I know it would be against the law for them to withdraw money from your account without your authorization. Your bank should have its own policies regarding this. Typically, you're only liable for something like 50$ of an unauthorized transaction.

I don't think so . . . his paypal is linked to his debit card . . . which has a balance of zero.

So they can't get any money out of him . . . . unless he gives it to them. I think maybe he can ride this one out . . .
