What's the issue? eBay is just cutting down on the huge amount of fraud that takes place every time a console launches. There was a ridiculous amount of fraudulent XBOX 360 auctions last year, and fraud hurts eBay's bottom line.

Guess what? People who want to make top dollar on their PS3 and Wii pre-sales will find a way to meet eBay's requirements. There are no decent alternatives to eBay at this time.

And..If you are a serious ebayer with a paypal account, you are aware that if you use your paypal card you get a lot of your fees back...you can export money from your bank account into your paypal account...and in general get all your fees back.

Maybe so, but leaving my money /in/ my bank account earns me 5% interest..

That and the fact that anyone using PayPal to hold their money is half-retarded. I've been a high-level PowerSeller for 3 years, and I rarely leave more than a few bucks sitting in my PayPal account.

I can't see the page, blocked :( Whats everyone fired up over?

Must show a copy of the presale receipt and have 50 feedback to sell PS3 or Wii and must use Paypal.

But I thought they were just a venue?

What business is it of theirs what I sell, how I sell, as long as I am not breaking any laws?

They're a private business and can do whatever the please.

Oh Really?

Anyone who puts forth such an effort to sell one on ebay and anyone willing to pay more than 100% of the cost is a tool in my book, so I think the whole thing is funny.

The whole deal where a big portion of them end up on ebay is a joke to begin with.

Who really cares if you call them a tool. They can sob about it all the way to the bank.

I'm certain they care as much about my opinion as I care about your post. My point isn't whether they should care what I think, my point is that I think the whole thing is so stupid... both sides... not just the people making money, the people shelling out craploads too.

Wow, so ebay will do something about this, meanwhile every day, we hear dozens of stories about people receiving obvious fake bids from Nigerians... "I'll gladly pay you $2000, and use my shipper..."

Short of making a limit on how high a person can bid with a certain amount of feedback, there really isn't much of a way to change that... Unless they required paypal to be used for all people with less than 50 feedback on ALL auctions.

Not really true

A vast majority of all these scams are from individuals who create new accounts. All ebay would have to do is give sellers slightly more control over the bidder requirements then the current -1 or more selection. Even if they gave the seller the ability to require 1 feedback at the time of bidding, the number of scams would be drastically cut down.

Could even work in a pre req so that the seller must be selling in a certain catagory or have a certain reserve/buy it now price to limit the use of this feature

Yeah, but a person could easily get 20-30 feedback in one day for less than $10 if they wanted to.

Just buy dumbcrap like recipies, pay with paypal, get your feedback, all for a little more than the fee paypal charges the seller. No shipping necessary, "buy it now" and you could have feedback within a few MINUTES if the seller is online.

So what do you do if you sell your PS3 but don't actually receive it? I have a long-standing ebay account and my brother wants me to sell his PS3, but I'm afraid that if he doesn't get it for whatever reason, it will reflect negatively on my account.

That's why selling preorders should not be allowed. Unless the store can guarantee the supply (which they will never be able to do), it should be banned.

Clear reciepts required..... so EB/GS can more easily cancel your pre-order and give it to somebody who deserves a console. Everybody wins!
