eBay camera batteries, are they as good as OEM?

I just bought a Cannon SD600 and was going to buy an extra battery to keep in the charger. Does anyone have any experience with buying those 6 dollar batteries on ebay (their mah is just as high or higher than the OEM) and how long they last compared to the OEM? The OEM is pretty expensive, 20+ dollars, in comparison.

I've also heard that the non OEM (eBay) batteries are better than the OEM ones.

Any suggestions?

Yup, they're just as good. I have three myself and they work perfectly. They last pretty much the same as OEMs, and longer if you consider that you can buy at least two or even three batteries for the price of an OEM. I've been running them for about a year, with no loss in capacity.

I bought from sterlingtek (full eBay name is sterlingtek.com)

I got 2 from ebay really cheap for my panasonic FZ5 and they work just as good and hold as good a charge as the oem that came with it. Nice having 3 batteries on hand.

I second sterlingtek. Bought 2 spare batteries rather than get a battery grip. Good quality batteries from there. I personally would avoid the $1.99 battery off ebay, though.

I got 2 spare Digital Rebel batteries on there for like $12 shipped and they last just as long as my $50 Canon one.

I bought two no-name batteries for my Sony camera from n2-this-n-that on eBay for $9 each. Sony sells them for $60 each!

I don't think they last as long as the original Sony battery, but they do last a long time. I'm quite pleased with them even though I think the eBay batteries claimed a higher mAh.

Yup, I have an SD550 and purchased an off-brand battery. Can't tell the difference between it and the real thing.
