New ebay rule:

Buyers - you can no longer receive negative or neutral feedback from sellers
You should leave honest and accurate Feedback without the fear of receiving negative or neutral ratings.

Good news! About time they did away with the retaliatory feedback option.

What say you?

Good News? I think not. We've talked about it ad nauseam on here already, but many small time sellers like myself are steering clear of selling on eBay due to the new policies.

As a seller I got the shaft on this a few days ago.

Brought down my perfect 100% to 99.3 or something. Whatever. I hope he got blocked from bidding at all on eBay.

I don't care cuz I'm still making money.

Interesting. It brought mine up from 97% to 100%.

As a buyer I'm pretty happy about it. Tired of seeing 99.9% positive ratings for every freaking person on there.

Well, IIRC only the past 12 months of feedback are used in calculating the score.

Yep, another bad decision IMO. Small time sellers can be basically shut out of business by a single bad buyer. If you only sell 10-20 items a year or less, but have 1 bad buyer, your feedback score might go down the shitter.

Its sad :(

So what's to stop pissed off buyers from posting negatives for minor issues that could've been resolved with an email?

nothing.

I'm an eBay PS for reference.

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your Feedback removal request.

I understand your concern that you may receive negative Feedback from a
buyer who doesn't pay for an item.

Feedback is a member-to-member system that allows members to leave
comments about their transactions. For this reason, it isn't possible
for eBay to prevent buyers from leaving Feedback for a purchase that
they don't complete.

Please be assured that most members will consider your overall Feedback
Score when they decide if they want to participate in a transaction with
you. Members can review the comments that you've received and left for
others, including any replies or follow-up comments, to determine what
actually happened during a transaction.

I understand your frustration regarding this matter and apologize for
the inconvenience it caused you.

Yes, that they will. If it's less than 99.9%, most are probably wondering why.

LOL. Yeahhh, sure...if they even look that far..

Blah. Another reason to avoid eBay, I suppose..

Well, eventually this will catch up to all seller ratings and people won't care so much anymore. If you thought eBay's rating system was broken you should see Amazons. I have an account that REGULARLY goes below 70% and sales still fly in; all it does is make the rating system pointless.

While I've tried to give positive feedback to most sellers I've dealt with, I've missed giving feedback on a couple large sellers. As a seller, does this bother you, or is it standard practice on Amazon? Also, (no idea if this is private info), how many sales does it take you on average to receive a feedback?

If eBay didn't already have a monopoly on the online auction business, they'd be bankrupt in no time. Some of the decisions they make are just asinine.

eBay:
I personally don't care because I'm already pretty established. I used to have guys with like 500 feedback emailing me every few days "FEEDBACK!!!" or threatening to never buy from (us) again if we didn't leave them feedback, or threatening to report us to eBay. OOOOOOOOOOOOK buddy.

I'll message people once if I'm not lazy (I'm usually lazy) and then remove the auction from My eBay. Like I said, it's not a big deal to me but some people out there are fucking crazy. I probably receive feedback on 70% of my sales, buying/selling

Amazon:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Maybe 1 in 10 people leave feedback. Emailing people usually results in a 10% success rate. Feedback just isn't as important on Amazon.

I pretty much stopped selling there with this change and their radical rules barring most downloadable content.

There was no misunderstanding. Buyer refused to pay for the item.
