Well ebay is now blocked at work 🙁

I was using google's translation tool to get in, but its just not working well anymore. Is there anything out there that will let me get into ebay? Any backdoors, work arounds etc. . .

Thank you,

-steber

Yeah, it's called Doing Your God Damn Job.

There's a reason certain sites are blocked at work. Just be thankful you still have AT to come to and waste time that you're being paid to do work for your employer ...

See the problem?

Spare me. . .if given the oportunity to pounce, your a$$ would be all over egay

There's a workaround known as talking to your supervisor. If for some odd reason, he doesn't want you on e-bay while you're working, then there's no point in putting your job at risk by using google's translation tool or any other methods. If he has no problem with it, he'll remove it from the blocked list. Much easier approach.

That sucks. We use to search ebay for different lab stuff and got it a lot cheaper than if we had to buy it from the manufacturer. Company loved the idea. Throw that at them.

Spare me. This type of thread is frowned upon here. Not to mention this is the wrong forum for this crap. The mods have been notified, if they want to keep your "hacking" thread active they can.

Hacking, as in circumventing security solutions. Yes, a very broad definition (and a bad one if you prefer the "old school" definition of hacking).

Ahh I gotcha. I didn't know going to one site to get to another is called hacking, I thought it was called linking 😎

btw, I am old school so sorry for the incompetence in understanding these modern definitions 😀

I think what he was saying is closer to proxying than linking. But in this case, since the proxying/linking/whatever gets around a particular measure setup to prevent this level or type of access, it should be considered a security violation and appropriate measures and punishments should take place.

Ok, instead of hacking I could have said cracking or just "circumventing security measures and policies." Neither of which bring out the reaction the word hacking does.

A friend who is a netadmin for a insurance company told me they will block sites and see if people keep going there via "tricks". They just keep on logging it. Then when they want to fire someone, they pull out the evidence (to make sure the person's defense isn't "I didn't know I wasn't allowed to browse ebay" or "it was an accident").

They don't like doing that, but because so many people sue after getting fired for poor performance, they found that method to be very effective in eliminating the lawsuits or threats of lawsuits.

Which site it is doesn't really matter. Obviously your company really doesn't want you going there so don't.

Say that to your boss, not us. If its "just ebay" and we shouldnt care, your boss shouldnt either and he can have it unblocked.
