I was just browsing and noticed a few auctions regarding land sale. How can they sell 3-4 acres of land in Costa Rica for 3,000$? that is so minimal! Seems to weird, and cheap.

has anyone bought into one of those auctions?

Probable does not include fees the Gov will add, little to no roads, wash out a lot, etc... My parents bought i think about 20 scres for 10k. But its in the middle of no where for the most part in the us.

Maybe because most of Costa Rica isn't worth $3,000 combined.

buuurn haha.

It was coastal land, with roads and electricity running to it.

plus, who wouldn't mind a little costa rica getaway for a mere 2-3k?

My dad bought some land here in Colorado from online, I don't think it was eBay though.

Its been a great investment for him, the other lots around his were bought up quick and he's already had offers on the property for large sums over what he paid.

Doesn't plan to sell the land though.

Your profile shows you from Minnesota. I'd think you could get land for $400 or $500 an acre there. (just a guess) Around here, it depends on the land and how many acres are in the parcel. But the going rate is anywhere from $500 an acre (buying a lot of land) to a few thousand an acre. $3000 for a couple acres in Costa Rica really doesn't seem cheap to me.
