Ebay Auction Title Misleading...

I purchased a switch off eBay recently, but when I went to take another peek at the auction this morning I noticed that it was not for the model mentioned in the title.

The title clearly says Cisco Catalyst 3550, then lists the serial number. Within the auction itself, there is a box that mentions that the model is a 3524.

Would it be wrong of me to request a refund? Obviously I should have taken more time looking the auction over... but listing a different model in the title, really?

(As a side note, the 3550 and 3524 are very different)

You're both at fault, but the seller should pay to ship you the right switch. I would go with the "serial # listed in auction doesn't match serial # on device I got", and demand the correct switch.

Could just be a type maybe. I'd contact the seller and ask which one he's actually selling first.

I don't think you'd be out of line asking for a refund.

When in doubt, always ask the seller for a clarification. Missing a good deal sucks; getting stuck with something you didn't want is suckier.

Seriously, people---READ all of that stuff that sellers put up in their auctions. It's there for a reason, if only as an announcement of seller's own reliability.

OP wouldn't be completely out of line asking for refund, but I wouldn't be surprised if seller refuses to give one.

While the seller did screw up, and that switch is from the 3500XL series, not 3550 (quite different as you mention), he does in fact list the correct model number of the switch in the auction, so I'd say the bulk of this error is yours.

My friend fell for an even stupider scam. Bought an N95 for some outrageous price, like $150. Then the seller made up some BS about how he had to relist, and told him to rebuy. The listing was IDENTICAL save for a disclaimer saying it wasn't an N95, but a Made in China KIRF (keepin it real fake, Engadget reference). He fucking bought it anyways.

seller forgot to switch title but seeing WS-C3524-PWR-XL-EN and 3524 all over the auction should have clued you in to ask about that.
