Won a laptop on ebay wednesday evening. paid for it wednesday evening through paypal.
Seller has over 300 positive reviews and is a verified paypal user.

I've emailed him several times over the weekends and he has yet to respond. he told me he was going
to ship out the laptop last thursday/friday, and he hasn't confirmed that with me.

Then there's the weekend so I figure he's busy and all. I'll see by the end of today.

Let's say he does burn me. What will ebay/paypal do?

BTW - I paid using my checking account

chances are the payment hasnt cleared yet. Someone purchased a tv tuner from me a few days ago and used his checking account...I sure as heck am not going to send it out til his payment clears. I believe the turnaround time for checking account payments is something like 4 days...that might be your problem.

upon thinking it over I figure that to be the issue. Thats no problem with me, but I'm pissed he hasn't made communication with me. He has already left me a comment in my ebay profile and it seems he is still cool about everything. my only concern is that his other auctions dealt with little items. As far as I've seen, this laptop is the most expensive item he's selling.

Did you follow paypal's guidelines so you can get your money back if need be? From what I've read, they're not at all hesitant about yanking the cash out of someone's account, so you'll probably be ok even if he does try and burn you.

I wouldn't worry about no communication, especially if he already left you positive feedback (I'd guess a scammer wouldn't even bother). I've had cases where I hear nothing from the seller after repeated emails and the package shows up fine. A lot of the time they don't really care after the sale, so they ignore you.

Transfer from a bank account is an instant transfer. It has to be backed using some other form of payment such as credit card, as soon as that money hits your paypal account you can spend it, you don't have to wait for it to clear...

/edit an E-check takes time to clear, transfer from a bank account does not.

I would say it's probably just a comm problem. Try getting his contact info from ebay and phoning up the traditional way.

hmm im in a situtaion just like this.

I won a auction on the 30th paid on the 31st and have only recieved one email! that was when i emailed him on the 3rd to see if he emailed it or not. he emailed me on the 4th to say he should be mailing it out on the 5th.

well i had not recieved a email from him so i re-mailed him on teh 8th asking if he emailed it and a tracking number. He has yet to get back to me.

Im getting worried and wonder how much longer i should wait?

MSN could have automatically logged him on and he wasn't at the computer?

I routinely check email when I am out of town and only reply to the most important ones. I leave the rest for when I return.

eh i bought a videogame from a guy on ebay. he wrote the wrong address and got 'return to sender'/ he didn't tell me that happened and left country for 2 weeks. He explained it all and my game came over night after we spoke. Wait it out a few days and see.
