I purchased some software off of ebay last week, and paid a little extra as it was listed in sealed box, thinking it likely to be a legitimate copy...
I received it today and it came in a DVD jewel case with a clear plastic 'seal'. The cover at first glance looked legit, but upon close inspection had the look of a reproduction. Pulled out the CD and no hologram. Put the disc in the drive and ran Nero CD speed tool to read the ATIP, and sure enough, it was a CD-R.
The seller has excellent feedback, 392 and it was 100% when I bought it, but now has 1 negative since I purchased the software. The reason being for non-refund on returned software.
Rather than contacting the seller as the slip of paper that came with the package instructed, I filed a dispute with paypal immediately. The money was refunded without issue immediately, and he requested that I send the copy back to him. He said he would in turn send me another legitimate copy free of charge...
My thinking is he wants to maintain as good a feedback record as he can so he can continue to sell bootleg copies, but I could be wrong.
If you were in such a situation, what would you do? Not so much what I have already done, but going forward from here...?
