I sometimes look through ebay for broken items in electronics. I'm a former EE also with experience in consumer electronics repairs so sometimes I see something that might be worth a gamble. The thing is I see more things that are ridiculously priced.

If you are selling a 32" LCD tv with a screen that is shattered and you want me to pay you $150 + $50 shipping you are either insane or stupid. It would cost more than new to fix.

Ipods that sell retail for $125 being sold as is with a broken screen for $85. Home theater receivers for $100 that retail for $150, it doesn't come on and smells like something is burnt, but shouldn't cost much to fix. I especially love the ones that describe things as, it doesn't work but it is probably something simple, when the thing looks like it was beat all to hell. Or the ones that list xbox 360 as ' The seal is broken and I removed the heat sinks and the dvd drive, I don't know what is wrong with it, but it is a steal at $100"

I think it is the 'I have no idea how to repair things but I slept at a holiday inn last night so now I know you can just turn a screw and it is fixed" syndrome.

His point is, working the used items should be selling for the prices hes listing, broken they should sell for MUCH less. Hes ranting on the trend of people being stupid and thinking everything is worth the same price as they paid new

is this BIN, starting price, or has it been bid up to that price? if it's been bid up, you can hardly complain.

Let me clarify for you: This is eBay we're talking about. Most everything is overpriced to begin with, broken or not.

Modelworks has hit the nail on the head. These worthless individuals who waste their time listing things at ridiculous prices are vermin to say the least. Ebay should have a reporting system whereby one can report overpriced items. If someone lists things that are used, broken and priced over 50% of retail, they should be warned. After that they get suspended from Ebay for stupidity beyond anyones comprehension. Everyone should know how to price items properly or get off the internet.

i don't see why people should be regulated on what they ask for an item. if they ask too much for it, it won't sell or some dumbass who doesn't do any research will buy it.

isn't there a saying that says "a fool and his money are easily parted" or something like that?

and what exactly should be the limit? $5, $20? if you can get someone to buy an overpriced item, more power to you.

in your logic, we should make apple or anyone else that sells their crappy products at an inflated rate for a lower price right?

Apple owners are legenday for overpaying. In fact, I would exempt the entire Apple category from this new Ebay policy, broken item or not. We can only feel sorry for them as they will never learn. :(

I know a total different rant but if you sell an LGA (Pins in the motherboard) Motherboard please keep the damn socket protector and put in on when you sell the board on eBay or anywhere else I was looking for a Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L board and the seller wanted $45 so I bought it but it came with no LGA 775 Cover and when I opened it alot of the pins were bent and of course did not post. Damn seller said I damaged it of course PayPal sided with me so I sent the board back and he had the nerve to resell it as is for the same price I paid and the kicker is someone bought it
