EB screwing over on game trade-ins? Noooo, couldn't be.

The aftermarket for used games is nice and all, but how do they honestly expect it to keep going?

I traded in a few PC games the other day. I made note of a few in particular... on their shelf new - $49.99. What I got - $10. Money says it'll be back on the preowned shelf for $44.99, or, better yet since I included the original packaging and all in pristine condition, back on the retail shelf at full price.

The sad part was that with three recent titles I didn't even have enough trade-in credit to walk out with a USED game of any sort.

I traded in the latest xbox wolfenstein game for like $32 trade in. I was happy with that, considering AT I couldn't have sold for more than $40 and had to pay shipping. Sometimes they do screw you - in regards to buying used, I'd never pay $45 instead of $50 new - can't imagine who does but you're right - people do because eb keeps charging it!

They gotta make a profit somehow on the used stuff. If you want more money, sell someplace else. I only trade stuff in when there is a special that will get me more than what it's worth.

BTW, FYI, if it's a sports game series that comes out every year, it's worth chump change. Don't even bother asking, like I did.

they go on the notion that hey you copied it and are still going to play it even though you trade it back. in most cases it isnt so but i dont think there is a way around it.

now why would you pay $45 for used game when a new one is $50? that seems silly to me.

didnt EB get in trouble for charging full price for used games?

I got over $100 on my last trade in, but I brought in 4 games...still, that's over 25 bucks a game. I think they give you 10-20% extra if you trade in more than 3.

Given the time and effort, you can get more for your games by selling them yourself on ATOT or eGay. The only risk being deadbeats who think they want it and can't afford it. --- Also fees collected by eGay and Paydude are getting crazy now a days. You simply can't win at all...---

Just a thought - trade games on trading boards or even here on ATOT. Skip EB, Gamestop, Gamecrazy... I saw this kid come into the Gamecrazy one day, traded in 10 decent N64 titles for Kirby N64. Not the best trade in the world, but some of these kids don't really know the value of what they have.
