EAX1900XT 100% fan speed duration in 2nd PCIE slot on cold boot

Hi,

I'm not certain if this category fits the bill exactly since my problems seem to cross over Motherboard and Video.

Issue:
Whenever I cold start my PC my 2nd ATI EAX1900XT (I have a Crossfire setup) in the 2nd (black) PCIE slot fires up with a 100% fan speed right up until Windows XP boots into the login screen.

Prior to running crossfire, the EAX1900XT was my primary card in the blue PCIE slot, and the cooling fan would spin up to 100% for 5 secs and then level out. My new Sapphire X1900CF card (now in the primary Blue Slot) spins up for the normal 5 secs and levels out normally (I have yet to try the CF card in the 2nd slot).

If I do not boot into windows and stay in the DOS/BIOS screens, the fan will remain at 100%. I'm wondering if this is normal behaviour or a problem with either the graphics card/motherboard/config of some kind.

Setup:
C2D 6400 @ 3.2Ghz
Asus P5B Deluxe/Wi-Fi-AP (BIOS) 0804
2GB - Corsair XMS2 Twin2X2048-6400 (C5)
Sapphire X1900 Crossfire (Blue Slot)
Asus EAX1900XT (Black Slot)
Enermax Liberty 620W

Thanks in advance!

Drew

Not much help, but my Ultra would run at 100% until drivers were loaded... so every nvidia driver manually adjusts the fan speed... for every OS: XP, 2000, Vista, Linux..

Hmm ... interesting.

I suppose it would be driver related, its just odd that its specifically my 2nd PCIE slot. But the primary slot is unaffected?
