Eating healthy is expensive!

JEDI

McDonalds big mac value meal $2.99-> big mac, fries, coke

Ceasar salad $4.25 -> just the salad

so you may live longer, buy you'll be poorer

Since when is the Big Mac value meal $2.99? It hasn't been that price here in well over 2+ years

But yes, eating healthier is more expensive

Eating healthy is cheap. Buy fresh vegetables and meats, cook yourself. The problem lies in the time required to prepare healthy food, which is why most American adults eat like crap. We don't have much free time and buy fast food.

Think of all the money you'll save on medical bills when you don't need knee surgery because you are so heavy that your joints can't handle it.

A good point. Eating unhealthy has much more expensive long term costs. Direct reason for the rise of healthcare costs in this country now and why many companies are dropping coverage altogether. Example: my copay is now twice what it was last year for a normal visit, and 3x what it was last year to see a specialist. And I get coverage through a hospital!

The McDonalds right around the block from me has it for $3.29.

healthy is:
chicken
eggs
rice
beans
legumes
milk
fruits
veggies

a weeks worth of these items will run you about 15 bucks. About the cost of three big mac value meals here.

You can get a week's worth of that stuff (I'm talking lunch and dinner) for $15? Where exactly do you live?

I pay nearer $40 a week, which is still cheaper than eating out every meal. And healthier.

We've been eating dinner almost exclusively from Cooking Light...food runs about $35-45 a week for 2 people.

I prefer my cooking! RICE + Pasta are great. I can make the rice in less than 10mins and ready to eat after 30mins. everytime I cook rice, it can last me for about 3 meals. just throw the chicken to cook with the rice, also add some corn and tuna, this will be great and fast. once the rice is done, everything is done.😀
beans = legumes, isn't it?

I dont know. 1lb of chicken costs $6 around here, 1 gallon of milk is close to $4, and you cant buy that much fruit or veggies for $5.

This is marketting at work. Beef is a more expensive material than that salad.

you guys need to figure out your priorities or get better jobs if you are strapped for $2 for a meal.

Better pay $2 more for a meal and eat healthy than spend your life as a social outcast because you are overweight, IMO.
