Eating and drinking something cold, is it bad?

Ever since I could remember I have been told that eating hot food and drinking something cold with it or right after is bad. I also find this to be a very common trend among Polish people. My parents for example, never drink anything cold with their food. They will eat and have tea with their food or tea after eating.

For me personally, I have noticed no effect with drinking something cold during/after eating.

Thoughts? Comments?

Only thing is it hurts people's teeth due to the rapid expansion and contraction that hot vs. cold will provide. Much more pronounced if you have fillings.

Being of a Polish family myself, my dad and mom generally preferred tea or coffee with their meals. I prefer a cold drink with mine.

He's something strange though - both myself and my dad both absolutely MUST have some sort of beverage with our soup.

I come from a Polish family, as does my g/f.
We've never even heard of this...
Although at her Thanksgiving her grandpa (who was old country) seemed to prefer a hot drink with dinner.

As long as there are people dumb enough to believe what their parents tell them none of those will ever die entirely.

My parents tell me that but I never listen :) I guess after never feeling these so-called after effects I came to realize nothing will ever happen. Perhaps it has more of an impact on older people? Seniors etc.

Another one I've also been told is to never drink water after eating mushrooms because that will result in an intestine twist, rofl.

Or not to eat non-baked dough, whether it be cookie dough, or cake dough etc. Eating it will also result in an intestine twist.

Anyone hear of those?

I've also heard that moving from a hot room or environment into a cold one will make you sick.

I've also heard that sacrificing chickens will bring good rains for the fall harvest.

I've actually been told similar things to that. Apperently wind, any kind of wind, will "blow" me and make me sick. Funny how I haven't succumbed to anything granted I drive with my car windows down 90 % of the time when it's warm.

Or now that I'm doing 100 km/h with no windshield or full face on my motorcycle, there sure is a lot of wind :D
