check it out...it's run like 'ebai'...auctions for
certificates worth twice or more of the initial bid.
some cities have better deals than others for food,
travel, and other local services. on occasion, like
last friday, they were auctioning off restaurant
certificates at 75% off! $30 meals at 2-3 star
restaurants for $4!

included are bars too!

CitySpree.com

This looks interesting, even though Portland, OR is one of their few select cities I don't understand how this works, how to navigate the site, etc. It seems like Portland isn't officially there yet, it keeps saying January 2001 which is almost over with.

looks like portland is up and running.

as you might have noticed, this site is relatively unknown (at least
until now)...so competition for these certificates is low. you're
almost guaranteed to win the bid at the initial price. regular
auctions start at about 50% off, and special occasions start at
75% off! those are the times to load up big time.

no more paying full retail even on friday nites!

Thanks, yeah I think Portland is online. I wish they had a bigger list of restaurants to choose from.

Picked up a $30 GC for a VERY nice local restaurant for $13.50 - the only bid - free shipping - arrived in 4 days!

We eat out quite often, and there are some decent places on the list - also some dogs - with no or few bids.

Are the gift certificates issued cittyspree ones or are they from the store/restaurants for which you bought it?

pretty cool, unless citispree closes its doors and then no more citispree certificates, i think.

Worth the shot at it. watch out for the hotels though, since it says it does not apply to any discounts or coupons...hotel rack rate (top price) is usually double what you can get it for, so you would probably lose money on those.

Good luck, and nice post.

Ugh I was people would ignore this thread because the less people who know about CitySpree.com the better.

I already bid on a $25 Silver Dollar Pizza GC and won it for only $10.

I outbidded an Oregon State University student for a $50 Benihana's GC, won it for $29 (bidding started at $20).

They also offer FREE 1st class USPS shipping.

$10 for a $25 Silver Dollar Pizza GC is a super sweet deal!
