Live to eat, live to work?

Where do you fall in with these statements?

I work to live, if enabled I wouldn't work, at least in the capacity I do now. I'd work for my survival, a place to live and hobby money. I'm thinking of going this route.
People that live to work? I feel sorry for most, because there are exceptions for some.

Some people I know only eat out of necessity, they eat to live. They don't get enjoyment out of a delicious meal.
I'm not on the other side completely, I don't live to eat. I do enjoy a delicious meal and feel sorry for those that do not.

What say you ATOT?
 
If i had a million dollars, I'd do two chicks at the same time... pretty sure if I had a million dollars I could set something like that up
 
I hate work. I only do it to survive. If I had a dream job, that might be different, but so far I get no joy from my work.

I'm not a fan of eating. Fancy food does nothing for me. I enjoy food, but on the simple side, and I'll go awhile without eating when I can't be arsed to make something. If possible, I'd probably just eat once or twice a week to taste something.

I do not live for my work. If I won the lottery, I would probably take some time off, then would do some pro bono work. I would also volunteer a bunch at my kids school. Both would be better use of my time and skills.

I also enjoy food (way too much, unfortunately).

It seems highschool biology didn't teach you the social aspect of humans eating for the sake of pleasure, just as we're one of the few organisms that have sex for the same.
I suspect you don't get any of the latter as well.

Actually had this discussion not that long ago. Drives me nuts that people live to work.

I have seen far too many people retire and then die a year or two later.

Why do people devote themselves fully to a job when the job would shit can them when money is tight? Whether you have a career or a job, it should not be your LIFE. There are far more important things than a paycheck.

Yea, unfortunately the reality is that you need money to survive. Sure you can cut your expenses down, but then what? A lot of people are in shitty situations without any hope of improving. That's just the way it is.
 
I really hate my current job. Long hours, bitchy customers, piling more work on us, too much driving, and a territorial manager that treats me like I'm a retard. Counting the days till I can GTFO. My new employer is taking forever to make the final offer so I'm hanging in the air at this point. I work purely to survive right now. It's enough to pay the bills and feed my gadget hobby, but not much else.
 
Well you have no choice but to work to live, if you don't work you don't live so it's kind of a stupid question. A better question is how much fun can you fit into your lifestyle, and how much do you worry about work. Many people just let it consume their whole life while others couldn't give a crap about their work, they do the minimum to not get fired and spend the rest of their time doing things they enjoy. Then you have the small percentage of people who truly love what they do... but they don't count.

Me, I do enjoy myself at work and the connections to people that I make there but I often find myself doing too many hours just the same. I always hated that it's about money, but honestly until you don't NEED money it WILL be about money, doesn't matter if you ignore the fact.

Edit: I consider myself to be fortunate, since there are so many people less fortunate than myself or just plain miserable, which I'm not.

To be fair, some people are self-employed and/or are doing something that they love to do for money. But yeah, there's no value in work for work's sake.
