My high school has an online newspaper, using a blog on wordpress but it really isn't the best way to do things. I was wondering if there was a better way to do this, however, none of the editors I will be working with are experienced in coding or html, or not much of it. That was why wordpress was nice because it was really easy. However, it just is not working. We need something that will allow us to easily update content, maybe something like the google web pages maker now or something like that. The other thing is I would like it to be free. We have a domain name and stuff, just don't really want to pay for the website builder or anything.

i really liked Joomla. It seemed easy enough and definitely enough features - a little worried about the templates though - hopefully they have more than two....

However, what i dont understand, something that I have completely stayed away from as a computer geek is this server stuff with websites. It says it can run on servers on linux, macosx, windows, etc. - i know what a server is, but i just dont know that even applies - isnt all the info on the site? Joomla seems to say that it all comes from the site... so what is the server for?

i see it is a web server, but again I don't know what it is for. So, i guess i am actually creating all my stuff online and then it transfers to the website through this webserver somehow?

I guess I will have to read up on it/learn about it.

quick question - is there any CMS that run without the need of a web server?

probably not huh?

Also, if I want to add content to the site online, is that the way it is done or is actually instead added through something on the computer.

I mean, im wondering how much I actually am interacting/messing with this webserver other than installation...

Sincerely,
