The roommates and I were just given a nice couch from our neighbor across the street, who has two indoor cats. It doesn't stink too badly, but it does have this subtle presence that's annoying. Is there an easy/cheap/quick way to erase the foul odor?

hmm what about Febreeze or something? or maybe one of those Regina Steamer Carpet Cleaners, you could use it on the cushions & stuff.

Ya febreze, they have a special one for pet odor. It works great!

Go to a pet store and ask around. Maybe something like the product Nature's Miracle would help. If you have a carpet extractor with an upholstry attachment, you could probably find a pet odor killing carpet cleaner solution that might help.

What is cat stink? Cat urine? If it is urine you will probably have a hard time getting the smell out of the couch. I know someone who just threw one away because of the smell. I would also suggest a steam cleaner and a heavy dose of Febreeze.

seriously it worked. i didn't plan on it actually detering the cat, just wanted to give my roommate a little something back. i peed on his cat and put it in his room to wake him up. lmao.
but the cat never peed on my stuff again.

1. Douse item liberally with gasoline
2. Throw lit match onto item.
3. The item is now clean.

If it's cat piss, then there are products made to remove cat urine odor. Some of them work well. They have some enzyme that breaks down the urine. I've used the product from Walmart and had good luck with it.
If you have aces to a carpet/upholstry cleaner, use that first and then use a lot of the urine out spray. Let it air dry. A little febreeze on top helps too.

I've also used "Odo-Ban" - I get it at Sams. That help too.
