Easy to use, free web-based meeting software?

Hi folks-

I've at different times used WebEx, Zoom, Skype, Hangouts, etc. I've got a unique set of constraints here, and hoping someone has a suggestion. I'm looking for a way to host a once-a-week meeting that can be joined by anyone with a link and doesn't require a software download (this last item is not necessarily a deal-breaker, so long as the software is something easily recognizable and lightweight and easy to install). I don't care about video or audio--really only interested in text. I'd like the link to be stable, because there are logistical challenges with one that expires.

Suggestions?

lol so easy.

look up something called irc

host private server.

turn off logs and if concerned about privacy use a chat client with off the record encryption or OTR plugin.

I like Pidgin, I would not trust web based but to each their.

What you are asking for is not much, irc can handle this well.

If your end users are too dumb to configure a pidgin client (its one dialog....) preconfigure it in an archive that self extracts, boom!
