How many people here took the easy route and took minimal classes during their senior year of high school? How many took extra? How still had to take the minimum requirements?

And are you happy with your choice?

I graduated HS in 05' and my senior year looked like this: (Keep in mind I think 8 classes was a full schedule at my school)

1 AP English Literature
2 AP Economics
3 Teacher Assistant for 2nd Yr Algerbra
4 AP Calculus
5 AP Environmental Science
6 Philosophy

I usuallly started class early at 7 and was done by 1pm. Including having 45 minutes for lunch. My senior year wasn't exactly easy.. but it was nice to be done early!

Yes. Luckily, I've managed to continue my laziness through my first year of college. It's conducive to beer, which is always a plus. :)

My senior schedule looked something like this:

Calculus
English
Physics
Astronomy
Leisure Sports
Tennis, Volleyball, & Badminton
Physical Conditioning

Sadly, the only classes that I actually learned anything were the last four. And no, it wasn't because I already knew the first three.

at the end trimester of senior year I dropped a lot of my classes before the trimester even started... I'm glad I did it.. gave me more time to work and save up cash for college.

You'll get threatened with everything your school can possibly think of to avoid slacking off, but Senior year is definitely the easiest. Yes colleges will look at your senior year, but by then they've already accepted you and would only rescind it if you completely nosedived (elite colleges might be an exception, but we're talking Ivy and semi-Ivy here)

Don't fail anything, but feel free to take a breather. There's a reason Skip Day is in Senior year.

i was such a slacker.

mine was like this

ceramics
english
"cross country" (we played SOOO many games on the tis)
calc b/c
TA and i just played games all day long
lunch

and then i'd leave early

was it worth it? not realy it was a waste - i really believe i got way more stupid my final year and not really doing anything to push me caused me to really struggle my first 4 quarters in college until i was able to study again...and then a total of 7 quarters until i really learned to be efficient once more in my studying (ie: not spend ungodly hours learning my material)

AP Calc BC
AP Comp Sci
AP Bio
AP Physics
AP Spanish
AP English
History in film (literally watched films during class, every day!)

Garbage, the classes weren't all that hard but I remember not getting to many credits transfered when to college even though I got all 4's and 5's.

Took the hard way (for me and my school), it was kinda sucky.

AP English
Pre-calc (Meh)
Photography (Requirement)
Physics
AP Government / AP Economics
SAT Study session (Was a TA class, but this is what I did)
Track and Field

At my school, you're only required to take 5 classes. It was a hard year, but I really learned how to adapt and such. It helped a great deal with college this year (graduated '06).

keep in mind, that while most colleges don't track your senior year GPA, they DO care what classes you take
but if you're already planning community college, then fvck it, take some easy classes, have fun

wow, everyone here took a million AP courses. My school didn't really have AP and I took a normal balanced course load, had fun, and still got accepted by all the universities I applied to.

Um, senior year I took:

Fall:
Calc I
Physics I
Creative Writing
Spanish III
Chemistry I

Spring:
Calc II
Chemistry II
Fall of the Roman Empire

All at a local university. The state of Ohio paying for my first two years of college as I was still in HS=the win

LoL yea I noticed that. The thing about me is, I know i can do the work, but im a lazy mofo that doesnt want to do it.

Im pushing my ass hard right now to finish all my reqs and be ahead in credits so i only have 2 reqs to take my senior year.

I really have no idea what school i want to go to or I am able to go to. University is nice, but money is hard, so JC is most likely the route I will take. I also think about the USNA...I will have 4 years of NJROTC under my belt when i graduate..

During my senior year I had 3 hours of CCNA prep at a tech school (paid for by the state and counted towards required HS credits) and I was concurrently enrolled in Japanese classes at the community college for 3 credits @ 3hr monday nights.
so my schedule was like...

7:30 - 8:30 <no class because concurrent enrollment :D> Was able to complete Japanese 1-4 during my Junior/Senior years @ community college.
8:30-9:30 Java 1 and then Java 2
9:30-10:30 English 12 all year
10:30-11:30 lunch
11:30-2:30 CCNA @ tech school all year (we usually got out or ditched @ 2:00)

6:00pm Japanese

Best year of HS ever...

I took more or less full load and did the hard classes, but after I got into college (early admissions, so December) I really started zoning out. My calculus teacher actually went on a rant one time about how early admissions was terrible because of me :p. I mean I just told him how it was: I was already in college, I already knew enough calculus to get a 5 on the AP, what other benefits were there left for working hard?

I don't really suggest checking out too much though, because you might find out you like it a little too much and stay that way when you get into college. That more or less happened to me.

I has a win-win situation. My courseload looked hard on paper, but it was wicked easy :D We had 8 period days... 1 of those periods was for lunch. That said...
AP Lit
IB 20th century world hist
IB HL physics
AP German
AP Compsci
2 FREE PERIODS!

The plan for those 2 periods was to take a math class at NC State. But since non-NCSU affiliates get last choice, there was nothing that fit. As a result, I could leave school like 2.5 hours early... and to top it off, when I applied to college, my final term plans showed a college math course :D So the important folks thought I was doing something hard while I was really just pissing off non-stop. AWESOME.

Edit: If you decide to piss off for a term, make sure you're ready to pull it together when college starts. Because then sh1t matters again. (Actually all of HS was relatively pissing off even compared to my easiest semesters at university... haha)
