I've got my physics final tomorrow (last test ever in high school:)) and i can't seem to find my notes on this question. I'm sure its easy but i just don't remember how to do it. well, here it is:

What is the net charge of all electrons in a uranium atom(atomic number 92)?

thanks,

i don't have the slightest clue. I don't think i've studied electrons that closely since some time last year.

-92
unless you mean in coulombs, in that case its

92* -1.6*10^ -19 C

This is if it is neutral. If it is in a compund its different.

ok, i figured it was something simple like that. I really hate electricity, which doesn't make this any easier. Thanks.

I think nirgis has it right. The Atomic number, 92, is the number of protons. If it is a nutral atom (not ionized) then the number of electrons equals the number of protons so 92 * the electron charge, 1.6*10^-19 Coulombs, is the correct answer.
