Easy Network Admin Software?

Hello everyone,

I am searching for software which will show me bandwidth usage per switchport on my network switches, and alert me if a server goes offline, bandwidth spikes, server resources go off the wall.

I found lansweeper and metalan which are very very close to what I'm looking for, but I just need the addition of alerts/historical data.

I am trying to keep costs under $5,000. I found some software so far, but they are up in the $15,000 range or higher.

Any help?

We use PRTG by Paessler. It's a good mid-range product. We've looked at moving up to SolarWinds or another enterprise level product, but for now PRTG is good.

I love PRTG, but it is too expensive for what we will be allowed to get. We have about 400 nodes, and Paessler charges per sensor. We would need at least 1500 sensors, and it would be out of our budget.

I'm searching because I know there's "something" out there; I'm just not sure what yet.

At this point, I'm thinking we're going to go with Lansweeper as an asset management/license compliance solution, I would just like to find something simple to let us know if a server goes down, and if *possible* show us the bandwidth via SNMP of our switchports.
