Easy Media Creator 7 - CPU Usage

Just went out and bought Easy Media Creator 7 -- installed it, works beautifully. I burned a few discs and then noticed the task manager CPU meter maxed out, 100%. So I burned a few more and kept a close eye on it -- starts around 10% and slowly works it's way up while writing. After the write is finished, it keeps rising! Just sitting at idle before writing a CD and I'm up to 100% and the computer is doing NOTHING. Close the 'Creator Classic' application and CPU falls back down to about 3%. What is going on? Anyone else have any problems like this? Windows XP SP-1, Lite-On LTR-52246S.

Never seen that, but my opinion of Roxio has always been pretty low. I'd sooner use DeepBurner or CDBurnerXP Pro (both freeware CD mastering programs) than Easy Coaster Creator.

Roxio's reply to my email telling them about this problem: the software is not to blame, there must be other issues with my system. Yeah right, thanks for all your help. That will be the last Roxio software I buy.

This is not uncommon with internal IDE burners - and is why I have always used externals.

Creator 7 uses a software buffer (CPU hog) and the hardware buffer of your burner. You may have a small size buffer on the burner so the prog compensates by using the sw buffer.

I just got a new DVD burner, the NEC 2510A, so I burned a CD with it exactly as with my Lite On -- problem gone. Must be the burner, perhaps Roxio aren't such villians after all.

I think roxio 7 is a great piece of software. I use other software for other things but 7 is all around pretty damn good. IMO. :)
