I have Easy CD 5.0 with the latest updates 5.02B installed in XP and cant get Easy CD to make a data cd. It stops as soon as I tell it to make the CD and reports Errors reported by output device. What gives? Direct CD works fine writing to CDRWs.

The funny thing is I had the thing working when I originally did a fresh install of XP and just installed Easy CD Platinum 5.0 with no updates back before they came out with the new XP compatible updates. The only problem I had was my computer would reboot instead of shutting down.

I did a clean install of XP back when the new XP updates where released and installed them following their instructions at the time. I had only used direct cd since then with no problems. Today was the first time I got around to making a data cd on a CDR and it wont work. Thanks for any help. I really am not liking Easy CD right now. Probably should have went with Nero.

Hang on a sec.... The version of Roxio EZCD for WinXP is 5.1, not 5.02B.

Yeah, Easy CD and Direct CD are version 5.02B after installing the latest xp updates from Roxio.

I notice when I insert a blank cd into the writer a window pops up asking me what I want to do now. Is it possible XP is trying to take over the writer and wont let Easy CD have access to it?

just put a blank cd in the drive while you're not doing anything. the window will come up, choose the "take no actoin" option, and check the box that says " never ask again" or somethign like that. it shouldn't bother you any more :)

I have XP and EZCD 5 platinum with the xp updates and mine says version 5.1. And it works just fine. Try un-installing it. Then re-install using the new instructions.

Roxio has directions for loading ecdc for XP on there website. I had the same reboot problems. I had to uninstall ecdc and then reload following there directions. It woked for me.
