Easy but elusive question: I need your help with a high quality card reader

Hi folks, thanks for taking the time to read the post.

I have a tricky question for those of you who have experience with card readers. Back in the day, I use to think all card readers were created equal. That all card readers were essentially the same and that higher priced units were only being made to scam the customer into bells and whistles that overall, a standard lower priced generic card reader could handle.

Boy do I wish I had time travel powers like "Hiro" from the NBC show Heroes to go back in time and slap myself. None the less, I need some advice buying a high quality reader.

What's a high quality reader you ask? Simple. It's any type of reader that is able to recognize capacities CORRECTLY. That's right, sounds pretty simple doesn't it?

In the world of SD cards, CF, and other commonly used cards, some readers have a particular nasty habit of incorrectly reading your card's capacity. What this does in turn is that it messes up your data on the card by either:

1) Deleting the data since it only recognizes Xgb out of Xgbs on your card
2) Does now allow you to write anything to the card because of an "Indexing Error"
3) Slows down to a crawl while reading or writting due to the reader's constant disk check
4) Does not allow you to format.
5) Allows your to format INCORRECTLY your capacity, basically hosing your card permanently until you find another card reader that actually works as intended to re-format your card's capcity back into its original state.

These above problems have happend to me more than once across serveral card readers. It's about time I stopped this madness and got myself a high quality one. As it stands right now, the only high quality card reader I have in the house is my Brother's built in Dell Inspirion SD card reader. Because it is a laptop so its gone from the house most of the day and he has massive amounts of porn on his drive, you can imagine I can't access this reader a lot unless imperative I do so. 😛

So let the suggestions fly!
