it's skirting the coast, iirc. has already passed the Outerbanks, which is landfall, more or less. Not mainland, though.

20? We had 75mph winds a couple of months ago and it wasn't even a hurricane. No warning, just boom...storm with 75mph winds in yo face. Downed more trees and power lines than the last hurricane through here though!

In the summer heat I'm afraid of anything LESS than 20mph winds, I wants me a breeze mang.

Honestly though, this hurricane is weak sauce because of the circumstances. It could have been a lot worse, of course. But we get storms with at least tropical storm force winds in the Pacific Northwest at least once a winter, if not a couple of times.... Usually accompanied by copious amounts of rain..

I give Earl a solid "meh.".
