Hey Guys,

I need to transfer 2gigs of raw video from my laptop to my desktop, I don't have a DVD burner.

They're both connected to the same wireless router, so should I just try and network them and transfer it that way?

Thanks for your guys help in advance

If you have a smaller USB drive, you could use HJsplit to split the file into smaller segments, transfer them over using the USB drive, and rejoin them into the original 2GB file using HJsplit again.

if your
takeing the network route and be ready to keep your pc's running ll night, and pray that you don't drop connection.
By The way if you go via networking and set it up by sharing the folder, install leachget on your desktop, and when your in explorer and found the file right click on it and click download using leachget, not sure if is faster but it lets you resume a transfer.
Peace.

download leachget

By the time you think of an implement any other option, you could have already used windows file sharing to transfer the file.

You have two computers, on the same network, and you want to transfer a file from one to the other.

Do I have this clear? I think it may be possible.

I thought the Microsft Backup solution sing spanned disks was the best option, until I read this one.

you could use one of those serial RS-232 paper tape printers or a card punching machine/reader

If you do try the network transfer option, remember that the network will have to be a token ring star network or the transfer will fail. The only way to keep a file that large together over a network is to include the tokens, otherwise it will be denied admission.

Net work the computers, share your c drives of both over the network (right click on the c drive and select share), click the file and drop it into the c drive of the one you want it on and wait for it to complete. Done.

I do have a 512 flash card, maybe I'll do that.

Just use the network. Hook them up with a cable if it's an option, otherwise wireless will work.

I don't have crossover cable anymore, whats the mbps rate on wireless?

I'm curious as to how long this might take.

If you would have used Windows File Sharing instead of starting this thread, the transfer would probably already be done already.
