I have a 250 gig drive that I use as 'scratch' to install all my programs and crap to it. It seems to have mysteriously gotten pretty full over the last few months (only 60 gigs free), and I don't want to format it. What's the best way to see the biggest files and folders so I can get rid of some of the unnecessary stuff.

Explorer's sort by size doesn't help since it doesn't sort folders by size.

Did you forget about your secret pr0n stash? That happened to me a few weeks ago, I was wondering the same thing and then I came across the bounty of hidden treasure.

go to run. type:

and see how much space you are using up.

For individual files use windows search with its filters or get one of those utilities that was posted before....

Been a while since we've given out one of those...

I know, but this made my night.

Now, I just got a new 200 gig drive for movies, what should I do with the old 160...

1. Take it out of the computer and make the old t-bird 900 into a fileserver
2. Take it out of my computer and make the old t-bird 900 into a linux box.
3. Leave it in the computer, and split my video drive into an anime and a movie drive.

Oh, and while I was at it, I took the zip ties I bought at fry's last week and made my wiring into a non mess for the first time ever.

Linux box it... Or completely kill it, and mod it into a hd with a clear top. Although you still might be able to use it after that.

It's a freakin' 1 year old 160GB drive...not way I'm killing it. The only thing wrong with it was that it was full.

Okay... Just a suggestion. Would be cool, you have to admit though. I think I'm going to do that with a 8.1GB Bigfoot some gave me. Not sure what I'd do with it after that though....

Yeah, definitely. I have an old (dead at the time) laptop drive that I pried open for fun. I could easily open one of the <1GB 486 drives in the scrap parts box downstairs.

And then you could mount them on the wall in your office next to your 3dfx video card. *eg*.
