Easiest way to migrate ICH9R Win10 boot drive to RAID 1?

I'm upgrading the drive on a Dell Vostro 460 which is running Windows 10. I would like to put the boot drive in RAID 1 after I clone to one of the two new hard drives. I think this computer has the Intel ICH9R RAID controller.

I might also change the SATA port the boot drive is on, because it may currently be on the SATA 3GB/s port pair rather than the SATA 6GB/s port pair.

What would be the simplest way to make the system boot in RAID 1 on the other port group after cloning? If I remember correctly, when I have done these sorts of things on prior versions of Windows, the drive usually won't boot and it complains about fixing Windows Startup. Then after puzzling over what to do for a while, I realize I have to perform a Start Menu repair, etc.

This time I would like to do it the best way from the beginning.

Yeah I'm not sure you can build RAID1 array from an already existing drive, unless it is from within the OS? The RAID BIOS console (pre-OS boot) usually is limited to first creating the array and then installing the OS (or writing any data) to the array volume.

I am not 100% on this myself but have had the occasion to wonder about it.

I believe that win 7 backup should do it. Create a system image...then boot off win 7 disk and restore. Make sure you have proper drivers so recovery environment can see the array
