I have lots of pictures, documents, and songs that I want to backup. Should I purchase an external HDD to do so? What are my other options?

Hmmm...burn lots of cd/dvd's?

I'd go with an external HD. Rolling your own by looking for enclosure and HDD seperately.

Yup. With the cost of HDs these days, almost anything else doesn't make economic sense. Then throw in the speed and it's a no-brainer.

Yep, that's what I do. I bought a 300G ATA Seagate drive and an external HD enclosure. Schedule Nero backup to do a backup every monday night at 11:00PM. Schedule Outlook to remind me to turn on the external HD at 10:30PM.

External USB or mobile rack hdds are the way to go. The prices are so low right now, and you can get some super deals on system pulls.
